LOVI is a place for all people to come together in the cornerstones of their  lives and find a moment of quietness in between their busy lives. Instead of any religion or way of life, the ecumenical chapel is inspired by the common factor of all visitors, Finland.

The shape of the chapel originates from the ancient  Scandinavian ”kuppikivi” monuments engraved in rock. These relics are thought to represent the connection between the living and the dead.

In my design this bowl-like symmetrical shape creates a  soothing space for everyone to feel peaceful and comforted. Minimalistic concrete surfaces allow the visitors to have their minds at rest with no excess distractions.
This work dates back to the more simple times when I did not yet understand the  ecological weight of concrete as a newly produced building material. Yet I still believe, that the main beauty of the concept lies with the simplicity and inclusion of this design, and therefore it is worthy of presenting.
