The challenge of the Hackathon was to find new, more environmentally friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and high-quality ways to reuse building components from the typical 1960-1970 precast concrete buildings.
As an only architect in the team, it was my responsibility to oversee
our ideas potentiality to designers. As young architect I feel like our community is full of enthusiasm and new ideas how to reuse old building components. The real struggle is the bureaucracy and practical challenges in the process of reusing old components.
our ideas potentiality to designers. As young architect I feel like our community is full of enthusiasm and new ideas how to reuse old building components. The real struggle is the bureaucracy and practical challenges in the process of reusing old components.
Therefore, our solution to the challenge was the create new business model, in which, instead of regular demolition constructor, the building owner could gain economical profit by hiring. Architectural Candy Store (ACS) certified constructor, that takes care of the component scanning, selling, detaching, and distribution.
With multidisciplinary approach we were able to present several different areas of expertise equally unifying proposal to solve the challenge.
